Map and measure their favorite run routes (no GPS required) with RunThere

by DemoPit on September 1, 2009

RunThere.com strives to become the go-to online running community. By combining user-created (taggable and searchable) online routes, groups (sign up your running club!), discussion boards (find a running partner!) it hope to bring together the large, diverse community of runners across the U.S. and the world.

Here’s how distances are measured:
RunThere use a spherical earth-model [as opposed to a flat-earth model] to find the Great Circle distance between the points your click on the map. In other words, it assume that the earth is a perfect sphere and measure distance along a curved line between any two points. You may have seen these curved lines on an airline’s route map.
